Welcome to Intensives from Ignition Driving School
Intensive Driving Course?
An intensive driving course is the ideal way to get up to test standard quickly and is suitable for those people who are pressed for time. May be you need a driving licence for that new job you are starting or may be your theory test certificate is about to expire, whatever your circumstance Ignition Driving Schools intensive driving courses can be as flexible or intensive as you need them to be!
There are three ways to undertake an intensive driving course with Ignition Driving School:
- Taking regular driving lessons a week until the test date arrives. If you have not booked a theory test to date and for those of you who are starting learning to drive from scratch, this is by far the most suitable route for you to take. The intensive driving course works by you booking a theory test (the wait time for a theory test is approximately 2 weeks), and whilst waiting for that date to arrive you would do approximately 10 hours per week driving tuition with your driving instructor. Once you have passed your theory test you would then book your practical driving test, which may take approximately 4 weeks to come through. You would then continue at either 10 hours worth of driving lessons a week until the test date or increase / decrease your driving lessons dependent on level of ability.
- Starting the intensive driving course straight away and then reducing the number of driving lessons nearer the test date. Again, if you have not yet booked a theory test or if you have already had experience of learning to drive then this is the ideal intensive driving course for you. Your Ignition Driving Schools driving instructor’s aim is to get you up to practical driving test standard by the time you are taking your theory test. Once you have passed your theory test you are then in a position to look for practical driving test cancellations because you will already be at driving test standard, thus reducing the length of time of the intensive driving course.
- Having already passed the theory test, booking the practical test and then doing the intensive driving course the same week as the test date. This style of intensive driving course should be undertaken as a last resort and only for those people who have had a lot of driving experience previously or simply need topping up to be ready for practical driving test. The optimum level for concentration would be no more than 6 hours a day and ideally you should be doing no more than 25 hours in one week. Whilst your Ignition Driving Schools driving instructor’s aim is to get you up to practical driving test standard quickly you need to remember that you may struggle with some elements of driving, which may hold you back. Due to the notice period for cancelling your practical driving test being three working days you will not be able to re-schedule your practical driving test if you are not ready for it and the pressure will be immense! This style of intensive driving course is not for the faint hearted!

The first driving lesson is free*, which is a great way to meet your driving instructor, before commencing your intensive driving course. Not only that but this driving lesson is the perfect way to familiarise yourself with the controls of the car. Whereas for those of you have had driving lessons before, this free lesson will be used to assess your driving ability, from which your driving instructor will be able to plan an intensive driving course of driving lessons tailored to your individual needs.

A residential driving course includes the course of driving lessons, an hotel and the driving test itself. So for the duration of your course you can remain focused on the task at hand.
We can fit your intensive driving course around your other commitments as we work 7 days a week, and rest assured, all our driving lessons do last a full hour. Moreover, to ensure that you gain maximum benefit from your driving tuition, it is our policy not to "piggy-back" lessons. Piggy-backing is a system used by some driving schools where the next pupil is picked up on YOUR driving lesson time.
